Ramneek Wig is an author and Gold Medalist in Yoga and Naturopathy. Ramneek Wig suffered from cancer three times. The second time he got cancer, Ramneek Wig got a bone marrow transplant done in the United States. Even after the Bone Marrow Transplant, the cancer came back in the year 2003. The third time he got cancer the cure rate was not even 1 %. Finally, Ramneek Wig resorted to Pranayama, Food Therapy and Meditation. Now it’s been several years, he is completely healthy and cancer-free.

Pranayama Can Do Wonders!

The word Pranayama comes from two words—prana and ayama. Prana stands for the vital energy which is present within each one of us; in gross terms, it can be much easily understood as the breath. On the other hand; Ayama stands for stretching, extending, regulating or directing.

Thus Pranayama can be much easily understood as the direction, control or regulation of the breath. Pranayama is the fourth limb of Ashtanga Yoga, and is also called as the “Heart of Yoga.”

Pranayama is used in the treatment of various diseases including heart problems, blockages in the arteries, high blood pressure, cancer, asthma, liver disorders, diabetes, low blood pressure, lung congestion, emotional disorders, constipation, acidity, skin disorders, insomnia, sinusitis, and depression.

Pranayama takes care of the physical body, the mind and moreover, helps in the realization of the Self.

Pranayama is a great stress buster and a wonderful spiritual tonic. As you practice pranayama, you’ll see for yourself the body becomes strong, vibrant and healthy. All mental turbulences, anxieties, tensions, worries and fears start disappearing.

Pranayama is a complete science in itself. It rejuvenates each cell of our body, and thus makes us healthy and strong from inside.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on this subject since the past several years. I also did a Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy, and was awarded a Gold Medal for outstanding performance in the course. Today, I’m an author and have written several books on healing including the books titled “The Miracles of Pranayama” and “Pranayama to Beat Stress.”

Here I’d like to mention that it’s very important to follow certain guidelines as you practice pranayama.

The most important thing you’ve got to keep in your mind is—regularity of practice. No matter how busy you are, you should never miss a single day of your practice; remember—skipping a day of your practice amounts to skipping a week.

You’ve got to have full faith in your practice. Do it with full enthusiasm and dedication. Remember, pranayama can do wonders!

Another thing which I’d like to mention here is that it is very important for you to do pranayama correctly. Some people complain that they have been doing pranayama for several months; but still they haven’t been able to get any fruitful result. The reason is that they are doing it incorrectly, and haven’t taken proper guidance from a pranayama therapist.

There are various pranayamas for different diseases and ailments, so you’ve got to know which ones you need to do. Apart from this there are certain pranayamas which should be practiced for good health and vitality. In my book on “The Miracles of Pranayama,” all the pranayamas are mentioned, along with their techniques; and the safety precautions which have to kept in mind.

Pranayama can also be termed as “Science of breathing.” It consists of 4 ingredients namely: Inhalation (I), Internal Retention (IR), Exhalation (E), and External Retention (ER). As you do different breathing exercises, correct ratio has to be followed. The ratio between Inhalation, Internal Retention, Exhalation and External retention which is generally recommended is 1:4:2:4; however, this might vary depending on different body conditions.

Since pranayama helps in the rejuvenation of each cell of our body, deep exhalation and long retention hold great importance in pranayama therapy. As you practice pranayama you shall see for yourself that you’ll become strong and healthy. The immunity system of your body shall increase significantly. No matter what disease you might be suffering from; you shall be greatly benefited by practicing pranayama.

I could sight you my own example; I suffered from cancer three times, the third time I got cancer I was treated at USC Medical Center at Los Angeles; Even after the treatment was done, the doctors were sure that the cancer would come back within the next 6 months. It was finally because of pranayama therapy, I never got the cancer back.

As you practice pranayama, you shall feel very calm and peaceful. All mental turbulences, anxieties, stresses, worries and fears shall vanish. Your mind shall become relaxed and tranquil as a still ocean. No matter how stressed you were, you shall feel greatly relieved by practicing pranayama.

Apart from the innumerable number of benefits attached to this great science; as you practice pranayama, you’ll start connecting yourself with the Higher Power, the Almighty Divine; this would start your spiritual journey into the realization of the Self. Hence pranayama shall help you to realize your proximity to the Divinity, and give you great spiritual strength.
